GRID Alternatives (Website) (Register) (Orientation)
Here's a chance to install solar panels on the roofs of low-income households. GRID Alternatives San Diego, in its short existence, has installed solar panels on more than 700 homes; as a result, this organization has reduced the electricity bill paid by the home owner while offsetting carbon dioxide emissions. To begin installing photovoltaic arrays, you must complete an orientation. The next orientation is: February 8th, 6-8PM. To complete the orientation application, you must be registered under GRID. San Diego Canyonlands (Website)
San Diego Canyonlands mission is to promote, protect and restore the natural habitats in San Diego County canyons and creeks by fostering education and ongoing community involvement in stewardship and advocacy, and by collaborating with other organizations. San Diego Canyonlands holds weekly volunteer opportunities on the weekend which range from canyon clean-up to replanting indigenous vegetation. St. Vincent de Paul Village (Website)
St. Vincent de Paul Village volunteers make a difference. They assist clients in many ways, from caring for infants to entertaining seniors. The Village's broad range of opportunities include: Preparing and serving food or assisting in building maintenance in Support Services, Helping in our Health Clinic as a dentist, doctor, nurse or medical assistant, Caring for and tutoring children in Children’s Services, Tutoring adults in ESL, English, math and computers in the Resource Center. All new volunteers are asked to attend a volunteer orientation, which is held monthly. XE is currently seeking information from this organization to find out when the next orientation is held.
